This Xtreme circumnavigation tour is a full day powerboat tour that goes right around the Antigua coastline.

After passing through the North Sound area, the first stop is Stingray City Marine Park.  There you will spend 45 to 60 minutes in the water with the rays & other marine life.  It's a natural reef and sandbank so there are lots of things to see.

The tour continues around the island stopping at Antigua's largest off-shore deserted island, Green Island, for lunch.  While the crew is setting up, guests can wander around the island, maybe having a swim on the North Beach.  After lunch, the boat heads south to Nelson's Dockyard where the Captain points out all the historic colonial structures from the boat and gives a short talk explaining what they were used for.  The 2nd snorkeling session is at the Pillars of Hercules, a FANTASTIC snorkel stop where the limestone boulders enter into the water at the mouth of the Nelson's Dockyard – base of the Shirley Heights cliff.  The last stop is at the magnificent Rendezvous Bay, a secluded beach on the south side of the island, where you can swim, snorkel or beachcomb - as well as enjoying a delicious homemade rum punch.

The Boat

The boat is a high performance 45-foot power boat using three, eco-friendly, 225hp 4-stroke Yamaha engines that sip fuel. Top cruise speed is an exhilarating 40 MPH which is how fast the boat will be going passing the islands of the North Sound. If you “feel the need for speed,” then this will be your favorite part of the trip!

Although the boat has been designed for comfortable high speed cruising offshore, the 5 mile run from Stingray City to the lunch spot on the North of Green Island could be a little “bumpy” for some depending on weather. This tour is not recommended if you are pregnant. However, if you are the kind of person who likes some excitement and wants to experience what an offshore powerboat race feels like, then the spray of this wild, open water section will keep you smiling.

If you are “young at heart” (and not “faint of heart”), this cruise could be the thrill of a lifetime. With five stops along the 50 miles run around the island, this tour is action packed. The speed of the Xtreme boat means that the tour will have more time to make stops while going around the island of Antigua. There is no other trip on the island that does as much in a single day.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to know how to swim? -- Most certainly not. Non swimmers are welcome and swimming proficiency has never been a prerequisite on the excursions. Of course you don’t have to go swimming/snorkeling, but some non swimmers want to go so bad that after a snorkeling lesson they just put on flotation vests provided and get pulled around the reef by one of the snorkeling guides.

What is included? -- All drinks, snorkeling gear, park entrance fees and a huge buffet lunch is included. The legal age to drink alcoholic beverages is 16. All you have to bring is towels, sunscreen, swimwear, cameras, hats (if you want) and shoes you don't mind getting wet. Those plastic waterproof cameras are great too. Another great thing to bring is a pair of polarized sunglasses. They help you spot turtles and rays!

What is for lunch? -- There will be a massive pasta salad made with lots of garlic, Parmesan cheese, and olive oil, the best BBQ chicken on Antigua, a huge mixed salad, plantain (a type of banana you have to cook), and later banana cake for dessert.

How much snorkeling do we do? -- There are up to 4 occasions for snorkeling if you really want to snorkel for most of the day, but there are 2 dedicated snorkeling stops on this tour.

What type of wildlife may we see? -- Different animals are spotted throughout the year. In the winter months from the end of Jan until April, you may see the massive humpback whales occasionally as they pass through the islands on their way North. Nine out of ten trips you will see either Hawksbill or Green turtles from the boat as they come up for air in the North Sound. Several species of lizard daily, the rarest snake in the world (totally harmless) shows itself occasionally, hermit crabs, many species of fish, birds, both migratory and indigenous, star fish, crabs, lobster, rays. occasional dolphins and there is always the crew!

Are there sharks in Antigua? -- Yes, Antigua and Barbuda does have sharks like most of the world’s oceans. You are more likely to see whales, dolphins and turtles than a single shark, and if you see one it will be gone in a flash.

How fit do I need to be? -- There are always exceptions but it is best to indicate on your order form if you have back problems or if you are pregnant. If that is the case, your guide will make sure you sit in the back of the boat.
